Week 1, Term 2
Welcome back to Term 2!
I hope that everyone had a lovely holiday. I have enjoyed hearing about everyones exciting holiday experiences this week. It has been great to see the children and they have settled back into the routines of the classroom environment.
A HUGE WELCOME to our new students; Eli and Alejandro and their families.
This term we are focusing on Anzac day for week one and 2, then we will be finishing off our inquiry into 'the rocky shore'. During week 9-11 we will be celebrating Puanga/Matariki and learning about this.
Our focus for RE this week is 'Easter', next week we move into learning about the Holy Spirit
In P.E we are learning about 'kick and strike'
Maths - our focus is addition and subtraction and basic facts
Watch out for a class newsletter being sent home and posted on here tomorrow
Remember to contact me if you have any questions/ concerns no mater how big or small I am always available to chat - cat@sjb.school.nz
If you would like to parent help please let me know! We love parent/grandparent helpers and always have lots of things that we need help with.
Thanks heaps,
Cat

This week we are learning about Anzac Day
We made Anzac Biscuits. The children took photos of the experience and then created a 'pic collage'
We wrote stories about the experience - using describing words

Diorama Fun!
We have been learning about the Rocky Shore this year!
We listed things that belong in the rocky shore - that is theit habitat
The children created a criteria for what they needed to include in their diorama "box" and they self evaluated against the criteria they created.
We ALSO had to work as a team. We talked about 'how' to work as a team and crated a criteria for "how to work in a team" we evaluated how we went against the criteria.
The children worked extremely hard on these and they are displayed in the corridor by our bags.
