SEESAW

Dear Parents,

This year we're going to use a new tool to share what we're learning in class called Seesaw. Your child will have his or her own learning journal, and you can get notified when your child adds new items. It's completely private -- only you can see your child's journal outside of class.

Click on https://app.seesaw.me/s/761-743-545 to sign up -- it takes just 30 seconds. Once you sign up, you can download the Seesaw Parent app for iPhone or Android, or access your child's journal on the web. Thanks! P.S. If you have more than one child using Seesaw, or have used Seesaw before, sign in and click on your profile icon > + Add Child to add this year's journal.

Thanks heaps to those parents who have already logged in. This will begin to replace our class blog as it is tailored to meet the needs of your child (exciting stuff).

Have a great weekend :)

Scooter skills

Today we had scooter skills. It was so much fun. We got to wear a high visibility vest. We were learning to be careful when riding our scooters and to  look out for cars or people when riding on this foot path. We need to be extra careful around sneaky driveways. We were learning how to stop quickly and safely and how to put our helmet on correctly.

Science

Science

We are learning how to be a scientist. Scientists look closely, they think and they wonder. Today we continued our experiment from last week and we tested blue top, green top milk, cream and water. We wonder why the cream stayed still? We wonder why the blue top milk swirled really quickly when we added the dishwashing liquid. Try it at home!!

What you need:
Milk (blue top works best)
3 colours of food colouring
dishwashing liquid

Add the dishwashing liquid last and watch what happens!

Thinking like a scientist

Today we were learning about acids and bases. We used litmus paper and made predictions about if we thought the paper would turn blue or red. We then recorded our findings on a chart. Then we added baking soda to each liquid and noted whether it fizzed or stayed the same.

We are learning to use I see, I think, I wonder to Help us think like a scientist

We used..
Milk
Coke
Lemonade
Vinegar
Orange juice
Water

Maui and the Sun

I hope you enjoyed reading Maui and the Sun together for home learning tonight.

Today we were learning about the Koru as a symbol that depicts new life, growth, strength and peace. It is an integral symbol in Māori art, carving and tattoos.

We were learning to re-tell a story in our own words and to act it out.

Enjoy!!!

(sorry about the finger you can see at some parts of the movie haha!!!)
