SCIENCE FAIR + MATHS LEARNING + GOD STRAND

Room 2 are learning about WATER (if you haven't already heard)

Today the children were put into groups and were given a science eXperiment. They had to work as a team and make predictions about what might happen.

On Monday 30th June at 2.15 pm we will be presenting our findings to our whanau/family

You are invited to come into our classroom and look at what we have been learning about in our Inquiry Learning.

I was really impressed with the way the children worked together and presented some really excellent work.

DICE PATTERNS

I am learning to... Instantly recognise dice patterns (e.g. how many dots)

If your child is learning to recognise dice patterns click the link below. Or if you have some dice at home that is perfectly fabulous too!

Week 7

Hey Everyone!

A few exciting things to blog about!

We are continuing our inquiry into WATER - today we looked at how a rainbow is created.

We did a science experiment:

You could try this at home....

Using water to make your own rainbow:

You need:

A torch or light.
A couple of glasses or containers of different shapes.
A box or something to put the glass on.
A surface to see your rainbow on, it could be paper or a light, flat, floor or bench.
Method 1
Fill the glass with water and put it up on a box or bench.
Shine the torch through it at an angle that’s fairly flat but towards the ground.

Move it around a bit, until you can see a beam of light on the surface next to your glass. Have a close look and there should be a rainbow at the edge of it

We also talked about the colours of the Rainbow and a fun way to remember the colours
ROY G BIV

Red
Orange
Yellow

Green

Blue
Indigo
Violet

Next week we will be doing several science experiments during week and during week 9 we will invite you (parents) to come in and have a look at some of our learning.

A RACE TO THE TREASURE:
Watch out for information about this coming home this week!

- Maths FUN!!!!
- Once the children know all they need to at a certain stage they will receive a piece of treasure and move on to the next learning step.

I have started a 'Maths Treasure Bag'
your child will get a turn at bringing this bag home AT LEAST once a term.

Happy Learning!
Thanks,
Cat
