We are learning about how to ask a question and Water

Today we made an obstacle course. After we finished our obstacle course we asked questions about what we did. E.g. "How did you get under the table?" "What part did you like best?"

We Learned about the water cycle and we made rain:
MAKE IT RAIN Raindrops

MATERIALS:

glass mayonnaise or canning jar
plate
hot water
ice cubes
index cards
PROCESS:

Pour about two inches of very hot water into the glass jar.

Cover the jar with the plate and wait a few minutes before you start the next step.

Put the ice cubes on the plate.

EXPLANATION:

What happens? The cold plate causes the moisture in the warm air, which is inside the jar to condense and form water droplets. This is the same thing that happens in the atmosphere. Warm, moist air rises and meets colder air high in the atmosphere. The water vapor condenses and forms precipitation that falls to the ground.

Week 4 UPDATE :)

Kia ora Whanau,

We welcome Caitlyn and her family  to our class this week :)

This week we continue our inquiry into "soooo… Who belongs here?" But we are narrowing it down to our environment and looking at water! The children came up with a set of questions they would like to find out about water over the next term. (These are on our wonder wall).

We are learning how to ask a question using who, what, when, where and why

We are learning about the sound w and q this week and the numeral 9

In Physical Education we are learning how to skip using a skipping rope.

We continue to Learn about the Holy Spirit during Religious Education.

Parent Teacher meetings are coming up soon (week 7), this will be a good time to chat about your child's progress. However, if you have any concerns or questions please come and see me or e-mail me at allencath@hotmail.com

Thanks,
Cat

Kia ora - Week 3, Term 2

Kia ora everyone, I can't believe it's now week 3!!!!

Welcome to our lovely new students Emily and Mei.

This week we continue our inquiry into "so… who belongs here?" We talked about how we are all special and unique and we are also all different and that we respect one another and ourselves.

We are also learning about the word ending (ing) and revising the sounds p, s and v

We began painting self portraits - we looked at ourselves in the mirror to see how special we are. We are all God's most special creation!

I hope you all got a copy of our newsletter today, I know it is lengthy!!!!! But it has a lot of helpful information in it. Keep it in a safe place :) Also, there is a mistake in it - I said Room 4's library time is Thursday but of course, we are Room 2 now.

Many thanks,

Cat
